"We believe in respecting the process and providing authentic croissants to our consumers rather than just any piece of bread calling it a croissant. Croissants as a product sell themselves. Our job was just to make them available in the market " .
Started in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, the owners of Pizzo - a company focusing on frozen pizza, decided to bridge the gap in the market for good authentic croissants. Crozzo's vision is to make croissants a daily use product in India - pocket friendly, more production and availability so Indians too can enjoy the taste of delicious croissants just like anywhere in the world. Know from the founder of Crozzo himself - Mr Sharan Goyal how he started Crozzo and where it's headed.
What made you start Crozzo?
We already ran a successful frozen pizza
brand called Pizzo. We noticed that there is a gap in the market for good croissants in India. No brand sold croissants with the right techniques and the ones that do are expensive and low production. While we already had our expertise in Frozen pizza, we decided to try frozen Croissants as well. Crozzo was started in 2020 in the midst of a pandemic. I, all by myself, used to get to the factory to set up the whole production process.
What are the challenges you faced / are facing? Croissants as a product sell themselves. We just had to make them available in the market. Our main challenge was to figure out the distribution as we wanted to make it as available and accessible for our consumers.
How do your croissants stand out from any other croissants ?
There is a technique followed to make a good croissant - it's called lamination. Lamination is the process of folding and rolling butter into dough over and over again to create super-thin layers. These layers, which alternate between butter and dough, are what give croissants their unique interior structure and flaky texture. We believe in respecting the process and providing authentic croissants to our consumers rather than just any piece of bread and calling it a croissant. Croissants in Mumbai are expensive and there isn't much production. With Crozzo we want to make croissants more easily available and pocket friendly.
Where can we find Crozzo ?
We have three main channels of distribution. 1. B2B - Here we supply our Croissants to hotels, Cafes, Restaurants etc. 2. Modern trade : Crozzo is available at grocery stores, Super Markets etc. We will be on Big Basket very soon! 3. Our own website. This is the easiest way to find all our products in one place which will directly deliver to your place.
What's your vision for Crozzo? Where do you plan to take it ?
If it weren't for the second wave that hit India, we would have started to expand to other cities in India. The main goal is to expand pan India and supply to bigger companies and hotel chains. Be a go to place for all requirements for croissants across India. We want to make croissants more available and affordable so Indians too can enjoy it as a regular snack.
